WORKSHOP: Weave School

Weaving is the new black! Who would have thought that the seventies trend would be re-taking the world by storm!

We've spotted many woven textile art pieces in the most stylish of homes, now with the help of our Jumbled Weave Workshop you can get your weave on! The super talented Kel of Chief & Kewpie will be hosting a hands on introduction to weaving. We'll be learning 4 basic weaving techniques, and best of all you get a loom kit to take with you- so the fun can continue at home!

We wanted to get to know Kel a little more, so of course we asked her a few questions!

Describe your perfect day

Hmm kid free anything. Haha. But probably a day restaurant crawling without a budget and without the guilt. I'm a foodie. Big time.

What inspires your weaves?

I can't really pin point one thing in particular. I always start with colours first. Then get inspired by Aztec pattern and geometrics. I love to use lots of texture too.

Fave colour combo?

I love the neutral ones. They are scarce in this new vibrant technicolor style that's all the rage, but I love to use earthy colours and real fleece.

What is your style at home like?

It's fairly retro but also fairly hectic. Too many mirrors. Wait, there's no such thing. Lots of textiles & believe it or not, not ONE OF MY WEAVES. Crazy. I've got that indoor plant bug and love the life they bring to a room.

Mix or Match?

Mix! Always. Mix patterns, mix colours, CERTAINLY mix eras & styles. Nothing better than vintage / modern.

What got you weaving in the first place?

I saw some online, LOVED them and thought "you are not talented, you can make that, you are also not a mob wife, you can't afford that". I thought I'd give it a crack and just really liked doing it. It's therapeutic and really easy.

I would love to attend your weaving workshop in November , but with the two little ones I’m not sure I can escape to Orange! Could you tell me if the take home weave kits as part of the course are available off purchase, and if they come with instructions? Thank you so much for your time!
    Kindest regards
    Kelly
