Trade Fair: It's a Wrap!

The annual Trade Fair in Melbourne is a wonderful boutique event showcasing emerging trends, brands and products that are on the cooler side of style and design! I literally walked for 5 days straight to hunt down the cream of the products and I am super pumped about what we have coming in store. Here is a little wrap up and review of what I saw (and my favourites).

Bringing the outdoors inside - succulent prints from Middle of Nowhere and new potted fake succulents that look so real it's crazy.

Lighting, cement and copper pendants from Indigo Love Collectors were the most exciting product at the fair for me. Also, bright wire lights from General Eclectic to mix and match with different coloured flex cords. There were some beautiful bedside lamps which will be on their way soon. Marquee lights for the wall and industrial lights. The anchor light sure got a lot of LOVE on our Instagram and will be in store soon!

Copper still seems to be the metal of choice - you will see it in lighting, coffee tables, artworks canisters. Watch this space.

Rugs - rag rugs in some new sizes, the durry rugs will be back and still the super fab price of $39.95. I found a new amazing rag rug in a geometric pattern, which should arrive soon.

Art, Ferwerda Art by Antoinette Murray. We managed to secure this artist and cannot wait for her pieces to arrive. Seriously talented.

Books, I'm most excited about The Whole Pantry by the inspiring Belle Gibson and Jason Grant's newest book. We also have books on gardening, craft, food and design.... all coming in soon. They really do make the most fab Christmas present! (aghhhh can't believe we are already talking about Christmas)!

Loads of great gift ideas for Christmas will be arriving daily from General Eclectic, Me and My Trend and our newest brand Habitat home that specializes in our fav thing....colour!

Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to stay up to date with daily arrivals.

Love Pip x

Wedding Trends

A trend we have seen floating around the wedding blogs lately is photographing the bottom half of people in the wedding party. This may sound unusual however, photographer Julia Archibald has absolutely nailed it! This photo of mix and match bridesmaid dresses and flowers is one of the most beautiful wedding photos we've ever seen. We also love the casual snap of the gents legs. Find all the wedding photos from this stunning wedding on Julia's website here.

Next trend is to create a jaw dropping back drop to use for photos. We have been seeing images with paper pom poms, amazing floral installations and a combo of flowers and an abstract canvas like the photo above. Find some more ideas on the Green Wedding Shoes blog here.

Also trending (much to our joy) is COLOUR! And lots of it! One of our favourite photographers Lara Hotz, photographed this stunning wedding for Hello May magazine and it is full of happiness and colour.

Another awesome trend is dessert tables! One of of favourite wedding blogs Simply Peachy has a whole pin board dedicated to them on pinterest, check it out here. I think any guest would be super happy to be greeted with a table full of sweet treats!

We love floral head pieces and they are such a great alternative to veils, if veils just aren't your thing. Another favourite wedding blog of ours is Nouba and they recently did a great piece on make up artist Erin Maie Latkovik (find it here). The makeup is stunning, however we couldn't help but fall in love with the above headpiece! Check out Nouba's pinboard on headpieces for more inspiration here.

Don't forget we have a great Wedding Registry service here at Jumbled. You can find some more info here or email shop@jumbledonline.com to start a coversation.

Christmas in July

Its that time of the year... 6 months till CHRISTMAS! Isn't that just totally insane? We can think of no better way to distract ourselves from the fact that the year is flying by, than by having a little Christmas in July dinner party! Because lets face it, who doesn't love Christmas 'Norther Hemisphere style' - in winter?!

Here are some great inspirational pics we have found. If you manage to get your creative hat on and put together something amazing, send us a pic or tag us on Instagram (@jumbledonline)!

Every now and then you get a break in the weather and it means you can have a cosy, rugged up lunch outside. We are loving these outdoor settings and think a Christmas in July lunch outside with warm blankets to wrap up in would be brilliant!

Tassles and Garlands dress up any party! We love the paper snowflakes for a wintery theme and the bunting and layered table cloths make for a colourful affair!

Lighting is so important especially in winter. Candles in jars mixed in with blooms create a lovely sensual glow of colour. And how cool is this outdoor chandelier - fairly lights strung up in a tree tied to an old metal rim. Love it.

Table settings are always a gorgeous special touch. We love the gold pinecones and the mix of antlers and greenery.

Mad about Mexsii

We are so super excited to welcome one of the coolest new brands... Mexsii bedheads!

These amazing bedheads are made in Australia, using original designs, by Melbourne ladies Merryn & Sarah. Printed onto 100% linen, these handcrafted beauties are a true work of art! We can't wait for them to arrive in store!

We were lucky enough to catch up with Merryn & Sarah, to find out more about their inspiration.

What does a typical work day look like?
No two days are the same at Mexsii which keeps us both on our toes :)

Sarah - I am checking emails and keeping up to date with our social media at 6am before an early morning yoga session. Then Merryn and I have a daily morning meeting to go through our objectives for the day and see where the other is at with our never ending list of things to do.After our meeting it always seems there is more things added than crossed off haha! I usually have a couple of external meetings and then focus on working through my to do list which involves marketing and brand management.

Merryn - I start the day with some positive visualisation and meditation before our morning meeting. I split my work hours between the workshop building our bed heads and creating concepts for the designs of future collections.

How did you find the inspiration to start your business?
Merryn - After working in upholstery for some time, I began to grow tired and frustrated of creating the same style bed heads in the same fabric over and over again. I set out to create something very different for my own room, I wanted something that would be a feature and be bright and colourful. I then had a light bulb moment to combine art with bed heads and after sharing my idea with a few close friends and seeing how enthused they were I thought I could turn this idea into a business venture. The funny thing is, I never ended up making a bed head just for my room, instead Mexsii was born!

What is it like to work with a close friend?
Sarah - It's fantastic! We both have such great ideas and are usually on the same page with our big plans and goals. In saying that we still disagree from time to time, however have now developed a sister like relationship whereby we can easily forgive and make up. We spend so much time together that we often find ourselves finishing each other sentences!

What are your favourite colour combinations?
Sarah - I'm really loving peach and nude with copper accents
Merryn - I'm obsessed with deep moody palettes on a clean crisp background,  like using charcoal and plum against a clean white textured wall

If you could drop everything for a day, how would you spend it?
Sarah - I would do yoga in the morning, followed by a long lazy brunch with friends, spend some time at the park with my partner Mark and our dog Summer and somewhere in there squeeze in a dip in the ocean!

Merryn - My day would definitely be all about soaking up the sunshine with my partner and our close friends, preferably somewhere in nature, followed by spending the late afternoon relaxing in a cosy nook with which ever biography I have been desperately trying to make time to read.
We cannot wait for these amazing bedheads to arrive in store! They're also available on our online store, head on over to check them out now!
Pop in store and let us know what you think! Have a lovely day.

Book Review - The Forest Feast

Book of the week in Jumbled is The Forest Feast by Erin Gleeson. Not only does this book share delicious recipes - it is also a feast for your eyes! Amazing photography, typography, and colour. The recipes are very visual, diplayed in a way that make it easy to take a quick mental snapshot of the processes involved.

Erin is such a genius. She says on her blog she creates “photographic recipe illustrations” that are mostly vegetarian and laid out visually. She hopes to inspire healthy recipe ideas anyone can make- dishes that are easy enough after a long day at work, yet impressive enough for a party.

The intense colour portrayed in Erin's book is just so stunning. They say you eat with your eyes and it couldn't be more true with this cookbook. I was raring to go after just a quike flick through the pages. The layering of texture and colour in the lentil salad suited not only the season, but also my mood on a recent Autumnal Sunday. The recipe was easy to follow, simple in proesses and absolutely delicious. A perfect weekend lunch.

Simple, yet elegant desserts feauture generously in Erin's book. I love her use of props! So colourful and not too difficult to try and recreate.

Buy The Forest Feast by Erin Gleeson here. ($45)

Welcome Ran Ran Design

We are so excited to welcome yet another fantastic artist to the JUMBLED family... Belen from Ran Ran Design. Belen creates stunning handmade rope wall hangings in her studio in Barcelona. Inspired by her mediterranean lifestyle, she combines natural yarns and dyes to create her woven artworks. We just can't get enough of her vibrant, unusual pieces, so we were super excited when she agreed to let us interview her!

Describe your perfect day in Barcelona:
I normally start my day with a fresh glass of oat milk at my desk, and then I meditate for 20 minutes. I'll go to the gym, check my emails and then I'm ready to start work! If I'm working on a new collection I just play with colours and ropes to see how they fit. I don't make any sketches or anything, I just let my hands work. I let my inspiration flow naturally. I'll have lunch and then I like a good siesta. It's nice to feel the warmth of the sun while I sleep! I love having control over my time, I can decide when I have time for friends, work, the beach or walks.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I'm fortunate enough to travel often and this is my main inspiration. Every country has something beautiful to offer, and I love the colour and the experiences. Of course Pinterest and social media inspires us all!

Favourite colour combination:
I love when I dye and the rope takes on beautiful colours. Every colour is so powerful and unique. Today I mixed a batch of coral (using Moroccan dyes) and some light green. They both look amazing and I can't wait to use them. I don't really have favourites.

How would you describe your style at home:
It's quite eclectic, fresh and calm; most of the stuff was refurbished or made by me. I have a big anchor covered in lights, and a huge hammock in the living room, and it's decorated with things from my travels. It's a very special place, vibrant and peaceful at the same time!

What do you think creates the perfect living space:
Love! Love everywhere! I love when everything has meaning behind it, and a story to tell. When you buy things made with love, that love spreads and helps connect people. That's what makes a perfect living space.

We can't wait to stock Ran Ran Designs' handmade art pieces, and we're sure that you'll love them too! A huge thank you to Belen for this wonderful interview, we are just too excited to welcome you to the family!

Ran Ran Designs pieces will be available for pre-order shortly. If you would like to be the first to hear about it, subscribe to our newsletter.
