What is Tadelakt!?

It's no secret that I am TOTALLY and utterly obsessed with Morocco and Moroccan architecture so it should come as no real surprise that our dream home has a Mediterranean influence. One such element that I love, and HOPE (fingers crossed) to be using is Tadelakt. WTF; you ask!?

Tadelakt is a deliciously smooth surface made from lime plaster, which is rammed, polished, and treated with soap to make it waterproof. I love the textural look of tadelakt and that it can seamlessly form curves without any joins. Some of my favourite Moroccan bathrooms have used this method and it totally stole my heart from the very first time I travelled there.

Check out some inspiration from my Pinterest board here; which you're welcome to use for yourself! I promise to share more of the journey, and how we will work with local tradesman to pull it off. Wish us luck!
