Our Landscaping Vision

We have just lived through one of the worst droughts on record, and while it looks to be easing with some lovely rainfall of late, there's no telling what the future holds. Our brief to landscaper Winnie Buttenshaw of Greenspace Landscape and Design in Orange was simple; we wanted it to be drought tolerant, easy to maintain and must be inspired by the Mediterranean to suit the architecture.

To achieve this, we're going to be mixing hardy Australian natives with South American, South African and Mediterranean species to create a stunning fusion perfectly suited to our dry-climate times. Species such as cactus, grasses, olive tress and palms will help define our spaces and soften the hard lines of our home.

Our shopping list includes:

Olives
Agaves
Ornamental grasses including Poa's, Pennisetum and Festuca
Cycads
Teucrium
Lavender
Euphorbia
Yucca
Specific cacti
Palms

We've been pinning our hearts out lately, and below is a mix of images that inspired the look of our garden. We can't wait to show you more of the final design in our mini-series 'Jumbled Builds A House' launching in the coming months!
